As part of the process of regional assemblies Farmers Market, next Thursday, December 9 in Zipaquirá delegates will meet about a dozen municipalities in Cundinamarca, with special participation of Dr. Mariela Barragan, Secretary Economic Development in Bogota.
activity aims to producers linked to the process, collectively and agreed, to discuss and develop their agendas and work plans for 2011, the main perspective of organizational strength and political influence in local authorities.
In this regard, mechanisms will arise to provide continuity for the project to promote local rural economy, which has been driven more than fifty people in the Midwest.
expected in the assembly delegates from the following municipalities: Chocontá, Cogua, Gachet, Guasca, Guatavita, La Calera, La Vega, Nocaima, Paime, Rock, Viani and Villa Pinzon, the department of Cundinamarca.
Farmers Markets is part of the Master Plan for Food Supply and Food Security in Bogotá, and in that sense, the district administration has supported in recent years this initiative.
Four other meetings have already met some 300 delegates from municipalities of Boyacá, Cundinamarca and Tolima. The assemblies are accompanied by the Committee of Peasant and Community Interaction (CICC) that includes delegates from social organizations participating farmers' markets as well as by the American Institute for Society and Alternative Law (ILSA), Oxfam Great Britain and Development Secretariat Economic Bogotá.
